The US Government is taking steps to curb what it describes as a threat from the “Internet of Things” (IoT).

According to a report in The Washington Post, US Department of Homeland Security Secretary Jeh Johnson and Assistant Secretary for Homeland Security for Cybersecurity and Communications Matthew Cavanaugh are planning to make the internet “the last frontier” for government cybersecurity.

“This is not a new problem,” Johnson said.

“The Internet has been the battleground for terrorists, criminals and malicious actors for a very long time.

And today it’s the next frontier.”
