The head of the world’s largest online retailer, Amazon, is using a washing machine to test a product that claims to reduce the risk of urinary tract infections and other urinary tract problems.
Managers are testing the Amazon Laundry detergent in partnership with the company’s pharmacy partner, Pharmacy Depot, to determine if it can prevent or treat urinary tract symptoms such as pain and dryness, according to the Associated Press.
The company has been testing the Laundress brand since November and hopes to have the first batch available in 2019.
The product is also being tested to determine whether it can lower the risk for infections of the urinary tract.
Amazon is also testing the product in a trial to see if it is effective at reducing the risk, according a statement from Amazon.
“Amazon is currently testing several products on its Amazon Lashing Wash to see how they can reduce urinary tract infection, pain, and dry skin.
The products are being evaluated for safety and efficacy and we will share the results as soon as they are available,” the company said.”
We have partnered with Pharmacy Depot to develop a new product in the AmazonLashing Wash, which will be available to Amazon customers starting in the first quarter of 2019,” Amazon said in the statement.
“We will be announcing the results of this trial soon.”
Amazon said the product is the first of its kind in the U.S. and aims to improve the hygiene and safety of the American public through the testing and education of its customers and partners.
“Amazon has a responsibility to be the leading purveyor of clean, hygienic products and the Amazon CleanLash is a new way to get that to our customers and to our communities,” Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos said in a statement.
“It’s our goal to ensure that every customer, and every household, gets the best value for their money,” Amazon spokesman Dan Ochs wrote in an email.
“There’s no need to spend money on expensive cleaning products like laundry detergents, when Amazon has the world-class customer service, customer service that everyone in the United States and around the world should be able to rely on.”
The company has already sold more than 60 million washing machines and other products, including shampoo, conditioner, deodorant and soap.
Amazon has been the target of several U.N. human rights reports, including one that documented alleged human rights abuses at the company, which has denied the accusations.
A report released in November found that Amazon has failed to protect workers’ rights in China, and has paid only minimal compensation to victims of forced labor.
Amazon said it plans to release more information about the new product when it is available.
“There is a lot more information that we’re going to share when it comes out,” Amazon wrote in the press release.
Amazon and Pharmacy, a pharmacy chain that sells laundry detergers and other household products, announced plans in July to combine their products in a new line, which includes Lashing Dusters, an Amazon-branded line of washing machines.
